- The workshop shared knowledge and experienced gained about the leading applications of hybrid power systems with broad participation from Industry experts.
- GRIDSOL presented the issues related with renewable integration on island power systems and proposed solutions to decarbonise EU islands.
GRIDSOL took part of the 3rd International Hybrid Power Systems Workshop held in Tenerife/Spain, from 8 to 9 May 2018. The Project Leader, Cobra Group, and the project partner, IDIE, attended the event to present the project at the Session 3B named “System Control Aspects” to discuss the challenges that arise with the integration of high shares of renewables (wind, solar, hydro) into isolated/island power systems/micro-grids in combination with batteries/flywheels and conventional power generators.
The Project Coordinator, Jose Miguel Estebaranz (COBRA), introduces the project and Jorge Servert (IDIE) presents the case study of Lanzarote-Fuerteventura Island system. The project proposed different Smart Renewable Hubs to increase renewable energy penetration above 80% without jeopardizing the electric system at an affordable cost.
International experts participated at the 3rd International Hybrid Power Systems Workshop to share their project experiences and to detect improvement areas. The workshop offered a great mix of hybrid system design and technology applications, projects experience and case studies directly relevant to this field.
