- The aim of the conference was to exchange knowledge and ideas, as well as experiences in matters relating to the integration of solar energy into the power systems.
- GRIDSOL project was presented at the Research & Development Session to communicate a solution based on solar firm hybrid power plants solving RES integration at generation level.
The 7th International Solar Integration Workshop and the 16th International Workshop on Wind Power into Power Systems was held in Berlin (Germany), from 25th to 27th October 2017.
The aim of the conference was to discuss technical and economic issues of the large-scale integration of solar and wind power, present innovative ideas and results from ongoing research and stimulate interdisciplinary thinking between solar energy, wind energy and power transmission industries, as well as universities.
Presentations were held by invited speakers from companies and leading research institutes as well as by workshop participants. The leader of GRIDSOL Project, Cobra Group attended the event to present the project at the Research & Development Project Session of the Solar Integration Workshop focusing in the design of hybrid solutions with innovative control systems. GRIDSOL project was invited as a world-wide reference in the field of variable renewable energy (VRE) grid integration.
The project coordinator, Jose Miguel Estebaranz, presented two case studies for an interconnected power system (Continental Europe) and an isolated power system (EU Island). During the speech, the methodology followed to model and size the optimal the Smart Renewable Hubs was explained. In addition, the very first results for both scenarios were shared with the audience.
